I chose to read a part of St. Monica's monologue on pgs 19-20 of the play. I chose to read this, because it is the one time we see a glimmer of gentleness and compassion from St. Monica. She is one of the toughest characters in the play. She bullies Judas, calling him names and trying to get him to break. But when she is unsuccessful in doing, she decides to show some compassion to Judas. By showing a bit of forgiveness to him, St. Monica temporarily becomes a new person. This portion of her monologue is why I wanted to re-imagine The Last Days of Judas Iscariot as a story of forgiveness.
